Functional Capacity Assessment
At Inter Health Services, we provide comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments to understand how a person's disability affects their ability to participate in everyday activities and daily life.
What Is a Functional Capacity Assessment?
A Functional Capacity Assessment evaluates a person's functional abilities, support needs and level of independence across important areas of daily living. The assessment considers the person's individual circumstances, environment, goals and existing supports.
What We Assess
Depending on the person's needs and circumstances, an assessment may consider:
Personal care and daily living activities
Communication and social interaction
Mobility and ability to access the community
Household activities
Community and social participation
Education, employment and other meaningful activities
Emotional and psychosocial functioning
Current formal and informal supports
Areas where additional support may be required
Assessment and Reporting
Our practitioners gather relevant information through consultation, observation and review of available documentation. Where appropriate, we may also consult with family members, carers, support workers and other professionals involved in the person's care.
Following the assessment, a comprehensive report is prepared outlining the person's functional capacity, identified support needs and relevant recommendations.
Supporting Your NDIS Goals
For NDIS participants, a Functional Capacity Assessment can provide evidence about how disability affects everyday functioning and help inform discussions about reasonable and necessary supports.
The assessment and recommendations are based on the participant's individual circumstances and identified needs.
Our Approach
We take a person-centred, strengths-based and culturally responsive approach, ensuring that each assessment considers the person's abilities, challenges, preferences and goals.
